Horrors! I’ve done it, I’ve actually used the competitions name in a post. (my huge legal team tells me I can, and besides, my competitors do it!) I even did some covert ops and called them to verify something that I found out last week. The Mr. Handyman storefront on Speers Road in Oakville is now gone.
Hm…interesting. Back to said covert ops. I called, asked a few questions, and found out that they are still alive and well and based out of Hamilton. Nothing wrong with Hamilton…unless you live in Oakville or Mississauga and have something that needs someone there quick to fix it!
We like to know who our competition is, and we do. Mr. Handyman, Handyman Matters and Handyman Connection are all well respected big companies that have been in this business for a while. Well, the time has come to bring out the gloves and show you all how we stack up.

Do you live in Oakville, Mississauga or Burlington and have a small repair that you need taken care of by a competant and insured handyman? A leaking faucet, squeaky door or broken window crank? Maybe a couple of shingles are missing from your roof and need replacing. Perhaps something more major like needing a dishwasher or other appliance installed, upgrading or renovating a kitchen or bathroom, or painting a room or an entire house or staining your deck. if your gardens are needing some TLC, we can deliver soil and distribute it, redesign your existing gardens, or start from scratch. Whatever your project, Lakeshore Home Maintenance is your go to resource in Oakville, Burlington and Mississauga for all your home repairs and renovations.
Keith and Sarah and their qualified and insured professional handymen can help you with any aspect of home repair in your home or business. We believe that it is better to repair (or at least make all attempts to repair) than to replace wherever possible in your home. Of course, updating a kitchen by installing a new faucet or upgrading to a new quieter dishwasher (Stainless anyone?) has its merits as well. And it is only ecologically correct to install a new low flow toilet where your older water guzzling model is currently sitting.
Do you have a list of things in your home that need repairing? We often find that clients come to us with a list of things that have been bugging them for months, or years. Many items are small and seemingly trivial, but annoying enough that you just want them done. We love to close up all those things on the list that otherwise aren’t getting done. Because our business is heavily focused on the “to-do” list, you will never be set aside for that bigger job that just came through, which is a common occurance with some handymen. When you are booked in for a job, that time is reserved for you and our full attention is on your job(s).
If you live in the Oakville area, or Burlington and South Mississauga and have the need for competent, insured, reliable and fair workers to tackle your handyman chores or larger projects, please give us a call at 289-242-8439 or email us at info@lakeshorehomemaintenance.com.

Waaaaay up!
We, as homeowners, don’t always think about our roof until something goes wrong. We think it’s suposed to last for years and never have a problem, but one windy, rainy or snowy day something goes wrong. It might be a shingle missing, an eavestrough breaking free or a leak is discovered inside. Whatever it was, it can all be repaired.
Typical roofs on houses in Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington and Milton can be reached by ladder on the outside and through the attic on the inside. The layers of a roof consist generally of shingles, tar paper or ice/water guard and plywood sheathing.
Generally on a roof over 8 years old, shingles do get damaged by sun, wind and ice and then the question arises; Do I fix the shingle that fell off the roof, or do I replace the entire roof”?. Both options are good, however, replacing the odd shingle or area of shingles will extend the life of your roof and you can forgo the large expense of re-roofing for another day.
So this leads us to our next question; how do I replace the shingle? I find the best way to replace the shingle is to have the following tools at the ready…a ladder, tool belt, hammer, crowbar, utility knife, roofing nails, new replacement shingles, and tar roofing repair. Use the crowbar to gently pry up the shingles surrounding the broken shingle, cut the damaged shingle out, cut the new shingle to fit, nail the shingle on nail line to the roof. Nail all adjacent shingles to the roof and apply tar roofing repair where required on any damaged areas while on your roof.
In the case of a roof leak, it is adviseable to have an experienced technician come out to do a proper inspection. Detecting the source of the leak is a process that requires knowledge of building practices and codes, as well as extensive understanding of construction from framework to finishing. Water is tricky, and will find its way into the most seemingly “watertight” area. If you live in the Oakville area (Burlington, Mississauga and Milton) and suspect a roof leak, call us to discuss your situation and we can determine over the phone if an inspection is warranted. Typical roof inspection fees start at $100 and go upwards depending on how indepth we need to look. Often, we can just ask you questions over the phone to get a pretty good idea (with no cost to you) of what might be the problem. For more complicated issues, we would send someone out to do an inspection.
If you live in the Oakville and Mississauga area, call us today at 289-242-8439 to discuss your roofing needs, whether it is a shingle replacement, nailing down loose shingles, or replacing a section of or your entire roof, we can help.
